Griffith University’s social sporting clubs were incredible passionate and excited to be getting a full refresh, and in many cases their first ever mascot and identity. As a remote freelance designer, I worked closely with their Sport Development Officer to interpret briefs from each of the teams, uncovering what they felt would best represent and motivate their players on the field or court. The following teams signed up for the rebrand:
- Griffith Giants Netball Club
- Griffith Raptors Volleyball Club
- Griffith Bulls Futsal Club
- Griffith Gators Basketball Club
- Griffith Wolves Touch Club
- Griffith Gorillas Table Tennis Club
To ensure alignment and buy-in from each of the clubs, I presented select concept sketches of various poses to the teams to select their favourite. Once signed off, I took the sketches into Illustrator, creating vector illustrations using a bold ‘classic sporting logo’ style and the university’s set colour palette.
The outcome — the clubs love their new, unified identities and now use them proudly to represent their teams across social media, merchandise and print collateral!
